Turned up late morning to almost direct offshore. A couple of loaded vans were sitting and watching and some muppet with a kite was swimming back in having launched a Blade in an offshore.

Rigged my largest kit and wasn't hopeful of a decent sail. It wasn't great, but it was better than I thought it was going to be. Three or four long blasts semi parallel to the beach and then it died off. Always a little strange sailing when it is that offshore and with nobody else out, I kept working upwind and didn't stay out for long. Water was flat, but there was a hangover swell from the week before, so the shore break at high tide and combined wind shadow made landing a little interesting - got spat out by a big mother, but luckily no damage. Amazing how powerful the waves can be when they look so sedate sitting on the shore. Doesn't help when it is shoulder deep about a foot away from the shore.
